I think this idea has been around for a very long time and I tend to go for new stuff but I have to admit that this project is a great learning experience and fun. My students took off running on this idea and enjoyed the process. What really surprised me was that no one complained about it being only black and white. They understood the impact black and white have on this design.

Paint Splatter Abstract Art
4th graders have been looking at abstract art. They used liquid watercolors with droppers to create their paint splatters. In the next class they used a fine tip permanent marker and outlined the paint paying attention to where there where color changes. I love the colors that were created and how the marker makes this stand out.
